I bought two pairs of these on sale back in 2008. Being that they're leather, once broken in are fabulous shoes. I still have one pair in pretty good shape and, still ride in them occasionally. Still comfortable and look good too!
Buckles are a little fragile especially if done up too tight. Also the silver coating comes off rather easily if abraded at all.

Stiff
(relatively) lightweight
Compatibility - works with all pedals
Maybe flashy colors? There are currently new shoes on the market that cost the same, but look a little sharper...
These are a great shoe, especially for the price. They are very stiff, and pretty adjustable. The front toe strap doesn't really seem to have much of an effect on the fit of the shoe, but nonetheless, they're very stiff, and comfy too. I don't experience "hotspots," unless I'm out of the saddle for long periods towards the end of a multi-hour ride...

I also ride with Time shoes for triathlons. They're a tad bit stiffer, but they should be, they were a whole lot more expensive... They're also not nearly as adjustable as these Shimano's.
