Since their debut a Interbike people have been raving about the comfort of these shorts. Recently, Velonews Magazine put the Twist Gels to the test. Strength:

Especially comfortable when using a saddle that has an insert. Almost as comfortable standing as they are in the saddle. Comfort, comfort, comfort!!!

Weakness:

The mesh "vent" in the rear leaves those in the pace line behind you looking at the crack of your ass. There is a patch over part of the mesh but it doesn't cover the entire aforementioned crack. I solved the problem by having the patch rotated 90 degrees so that it covers the entire middle area in the center of the vent. I now have a great pair of shorts that I'm not afraid to wear in a pace line.

I have two different bib shorts (T-Gel and Fluid Twist)with this insert and they are by far my favorites. They are high quality and comfortable. Whenever I dress for a 50+ mile ride I reach for my Santini bibs.

Strength:

Very comfortable. Solid construction.

Weakness:

Need to try on carefully before you buy.

The Santini Twist Gel Bib is the most comfortable shorts I own. The pad is fairly thin but still cushions well and you don't even notice the saddle at all. Mine are the external stitched type. The sizing is a bit smaller than most other brands. For example I have a pair of XL Pearl Izumi shorts, and they are a bit loose, but in the Santini I need a 2XL and even then I could probably go for the 3XL. I think its more to do with height rather than waste size and maybe the European sizing is made a bit shorter.

Strength:

Comfortable chamois, good fabric. Price.

Weakness:

Inner thigh seam.

Good chamois. A bit dissapointed that there is flatlock stitching on the outer thigh and standard on teh inner thigh. This leaves a big crease after a four hour ride. The Demarchis feel a bit better, but they aren't this cheap. Bibs rule.

Strength:

external chamois stitching a great design Good fit Gel chamois works well

Weakness:

version with stitched chamois causes chafing

I've had two versions of this bib. The version with the external chamois is by far the best bib I have ever used. This uses a separate panel for the chamois that is attached externally, leaving no stitching that can touch the skin. The other pair of these I bought sticthes in the Twist Gel chamois with standard internal stitching around the edge. These are far less comfortable due to stitching irritation and chafing. I both cases the Twist Gel chamois is very comfortable although the gel aspect is harfly noticable. The fabris on these fit snugly but very comfortable. Wear so far seems good

Strength:

Sturdy lycra, awesome chamois, little pocket in the back

Weakness:

None... seriously.

My butt used to have to recover from long rides. Now it feels better after I use these santini nicks. It's like they have some sort of recovery massage action while you ride. Seriously, I get off the bike after 2 hours and my butt feels better than it did before the ride. I don't know why, and I don't care.
