Strength:

Complete information for beginning to advanced cyclists on what to do in many different riding situations. Sections on maintenance are interesting, too. If I had a son or daughter who wanted to start street riding, I would give them this book.

Weakness:

Last part of book gets kind of boring as Mr. Forester discusses all the clashes he has had with several cities regarding cyclists' rights.

This very thick book covers all phases of riding on the road, although some of the material is dated. Most of it is still relevant today, however. Mr. Forester covers almost every type of riding situation a bicyclist will face on the street. He is also a very strong advocate of bicycles being part of the normal traffic flow and not restricting them to bicycle lanes. Unfortunately in the last part of the book he describes in great detail all of the problems he has had with different cities regarding the rights of bicyclists. I applaud him for his work in this field, but it gets to be pretty boring reading quickly.
