Bicycle Wheel Warehouse Pure Race SuperLight wheelsets - clincher

The Pure Race SuperLight (425g) is an exceptionally light weight, beautifully finished 700c road rim. We are offering this specific wheel set with DT Swiss 240s road hubs, laced via Sapim CX-Ray ultra-light weight aero bladed spokes laced using the Bicycle Wheel Warehouse NBS® build technology now featured in all of our Pure® road and Blackset Race® road series rims. Upon close inspection, you will appreciate the brilliant depth of color from the multi-layer anodized finish of these rims; available in Black Graviton, Silver Eclipse, or Celestial Sky. The bullet point like taper of the Pure Race SL (27mm tall x 19mm wide, 425g) rim serves as an extra thick section of aluminum to support spoke tension and prevent types of rim failure that occur with some other types of non-eyeleted road rims. Combined with DT Swiss 240s road hubs and Sapim CX-Ray® black spokes and alloy nipples, there’s not much to dislike. The Pure Race SL’s 27mm aero tapered profile combined with its alloy high material density creates a very strong, laterally stiff rim platform that we are conservatively recommending up to 200 lb cyclists. It goes almost without saying, but the Pure Race SL rims features a welded seam as well as CNC machined sidewalls, for superior braking and performance. Whereas all Shimano hubs utilize a loose ball bearing system, DT Swiss hubs employ the use of precision sealed cartridge bearings. Both bearing systems have their advantages and disadvantages. DT 240s hubs in particular, however, proffer a stunning submission of human engineering achievement via computer assisted design and manufacturing processes. Additionally, these hubs utilize DT’s proprietary Star Ratchet Engagement System that offers race performance with the added benefit of near indestructible functionality. The front wheel is built with your choice of 24, 28, or 32 spokes, the rear uses either 28 or 32 spokes laced three cross on both the drive and non-drive sides via Sapim CX-Ray ultra-light bladed spokes and alloy nipples. This wheel set is focused specifically for speed through the reduction of rotational weight, but does not sacrifice practicality. Please feel free to take a closer look.

Value and performance

Two years, 5k miles and none yet.

Rider weight -175
Miles per year - 3k to 5k
Location: Deep in the heart of Texas

I've got about 5000 miles on these wheels over the last two years. I don't ride them all the time, as I train with a heavier wheelset. I've completed two olympic triathlon's and can tell you they are fast. At just over 1400 grams, they spin up quickly!! They climb great and are just as stiff as the Ksyrium Elites I train on. I have two friends that bought a set about the same time. I took the wheelsset to have them checked at 2500 miles and they were still tight and true. No buyers remorse all the way around.
